? about photography

Hello

I'm wondering why some photographers 'll hold the camera at some wierd angle that makes a photo hard to look at instead of straight horizontal or vertical that gets just as good a photo if not better. Got any idea?

well i know that when i take an angle shot that's out of the ordinary, most of the time i'm going to place the photo in the angle that makes the photo itself vertical/horizontal so that the edges aren't on the standard plane as every other photo

it just mixes things up a bit

I read somewhere that if a photo look unusual or unrecognisable upside down then it's on the right track to be interesting!


By tilting the camera you can create interesting angles and diagonals to draw the viewers eye to a particular subject. Also bear in mind some photographs are intended to show the viewer something they've never seen before even if it's everyday objects just from a different angle.

I copied that, but there are plenty more reasons to do it,

I took a photo recently that i put crooked to create diagonals across the frame leading to the subject, while it was a simple photo i got good comments on composition,
Diagonals create strong photos (like anythnig else if used properly)

A friend of mine does a lot of photos at track meets and drift competitions and most of his photos are shot angled, they look really plain if they are just flat from the same place as his angled ones,

So really, shoot it for whatever reason you want, if it will add to the photo give it a go, learning new techniques is always good!

They can be shot at an angle to fit more into the corners of the photo of what couldn't be fit when it was horizontal.. When it's done successfully it looks great.

it's a canvas.. paint it the way you think it's pleasing.. so if im thinking i like it crooked then hell yeh i'm going to make my photo that way
its all about the composition which is my answer to your question
