Accessory bundle, worth the money?

I'm really, really tempted to get this kit. It's nice to have back up. I think the lens alone make it worth it... Anyone? I already have a stand, already have extra lens, already have a few things in it... but... you can never have to many batteries or back up packs, right?

Thoughts?

Most kits like that are mostly junk. Trash. Worthless dust-collectors they try to peddle to an unsuspecting noob.

Maybe the memory card is worth a bit. And possibly the battery. But everything else will most likely never be used.

I personally think most of it is junk and its over priced. Those "lenses" aren't quality. The tripod is cheap and you can buy batteries and such cheap

Don't do it mate, it's cheap rubbish and not worth the price tag. These lenses are more like diopters, they screw on to an existing lens and normally have horrible issues with distortion and very poor quality glass. Most of the other kit looks along the same lines.

Those kits are ALWAYS for people exactly like you.. people who need to ask if it's worth the money.
So.. take a wild guess if it is.. Don't do it.

That's what I thought. That's why I wanted to get opinions because it seemed to good to be true.

It might be worth less money, but it seems overpriced for what they are offering.

I could go down the list and offer my opinion on each individual item, but that would take a long time, so I'll hit just a few items.

Those lens accessories are like putting glasses on the front of your lens, and in all likelihood not be high quality.

The little tripod can be handy to carry ( still have mine) because it will fit in a regular size gym bag for instance.

The cable remote shutter release is great, but I bought my Nikon brand release for $15, then I saw another cheaper one on the internet, and bought a second one for $3. THREE DOLLARS

The cleaning kit will come in handy, and you'll probably buy one someday, but there's no particular hurry about that.

The SD card is something you'll need, and you'll be buying several of them in the years to come, but I didn't see the read/write speed mentioned, and that might be important.

Overall, it might be fun to get that kit and explore what all everything does, but in the long run, you probably will not be using certain items a few years from now.

So your choice, your money, your time, your call.

FYI, that kit Does NOT include a camera body.
It's just accessories. So you would not have a backup.

The "Lenses" are NOT lenses but attachments. So no backups there either.

As everyone else has mentioned this is a "package" to lure a buyer. It's basically as "cheap" as you can get and most of it probably won't work well and would need to be replaced.

the photo contains many things such as a flash, monopod, tripod, SD card, flash/camera bracket, grip, etc etc etc
that is NOT in their description.

I'd walk away from this as it reads disappointment all over it.

Thanks everyone. I ended up walking away from it. Ya'll confirmed my fears. It was probably to good of a deal for a reason.

I usually order things direct from Nikon. Unless it's accessories like straps, cases, or anything in that nature. If I lose $5 on a shoulder strap it's not as bad as losing $200 on the wrong lens or kit. The reason I do is because I ordereed a .50-.75m lens that seemed to good to be true. The UV lens cover was shattered and it rattles due to it's packaging... (I've already replaced the cover with another sunpak, thankfully they're cheap.)

I just have very few accessories for my new camera, and am just starting to 'grow' my clientele enough I would like to have a few different options. Eventually I'll upgrade to a better camera, one that I can transfer all my lens and accessories to. A newer model.

Don't worry about SD cards, I am well stocked on those. If I learned one thing it's that you never have enough. I have a flip case with short descriptions on what's on each card.

The UV filter that you have mentioned is not a "lens cover". A UV filter is not generally anything that you actually need unless you're shooting in a sandstorm. Many of us here will recommend that you take that off and use a real lens cap fitted to the front of your lens when you place the camera into a bag, for instance. The fact that they're cheap should be a hint that they may have an adverse effect on the image quality of your photographs.

When you begin to see distortion and flare in your photographs, then you'll know what I mean.

This may be the issue I'm having that I just posted about. I use it on the lens I use most often. I do remove it and cap the lens when I store it, never tried shooting without it.
