I checked my e-mail to-day to find I had over 1,000 spam messages - everything from childishly spelt ads for porn (no links, dammit) to requests for me to re-mortgage and save money (I don't have a mortgage...).
Spam - particularly from porn sites - is a fact of internet life. Every year porn sites account for a quarter of the sites on the www and are, incidentally, the biggest earners. They make more money annually than all the other sites put together.
Porn is big business.
And there is fierce competition.
People are always looking for new ways to promote their site because they want a slice. And so they spend a lot of time trying to find ways around protection systems in the sure knowledge that if they spam 1,000,000 times and get just 10 customers they will make money.
Porn spam has been around almost as long as the internet for this reason.
Learn to accept it as a fact of life - like litter.
I'm afraid my attitude when faced by some graphically illustrated spam for porn is to think 'Jeez! The lighting is terrible. Bloody amateurs. If they spent as much time on learning to take pictures as they do trying to sell them to me....'
