What's new

Adobe lightroom?

You can get a free trial of it off of there website. I did that but I have Adobe Raw already and it is a lot the same so I'm not going to get it but if I was getting something new I think I would get it. But I'm only 16 and not a pro :)

I'm using the free trial, and it is fast, easy, stable, intuitive. It makes RAW processing incredibly fast and easy. If you want photo manipulation and changing, then you'll like photochop. However, for touching up photos, Lightroom is phenomenal.

depends what you want.

yes is the overall answer but its strength doesn't lie in it's post-processing tools (but it can do a lot of the needed bits)

Yes. I think lightroom is better for 99% of the people as it allows VERY fast batch processing.

I personally use LR3 to do the color/exposure correction, cropping, noise reduction and sharpening, etc.

I then export the photos, and any further manipulation is done in Photoshop. Which is happening less and less often these days as I become more proficient at getting shots right in camera, and using lightroom effectively.

Yes

Yep LR3 Here also. As does have all the editing tools I need. Curves adjust,Color Luminance, saturation,Sharpening,Cropping and a decent Noise Reduction with spot Adjustment Brush for adjusting spots or parts of an image. Great Tagging and Organization capabilities.

So does Camera Raw, since Camera Raw and Lightroom use the same edit rendering engine - Adobe Camera Raw 6 (ACR 6).

Adobe Lightrooms primary function isn't image editing.

One of the reasons I use Bridge and CS5 is I can have ACR hosted by Bridge, doing the batch edits, while I do other editing work in CS5.

Yes, get Lightroom 3 if you routinely produce a ton of images and need an image database management solution for efficiently searching your database.
