Hi,
I'm looking for any opinions on the canon 28-90 4-5.6 USM lens. I've decided to upgrade from an old Rebel XS to an Elan7 and have been looking at the USM lens. I currantly have a sigma 28-90 3.5-5.6 macro lens. It does the job decent and I don't have any real problems with it. I know the USM is supposed to be quieter and faster but I don't have any experiance with one and sadly there is no camera store close to where I live so I can't go and handle one myself. Any thoughts will be appriciated

Thanks!

I have USM and haven't noticed too much difference, its alittle quieter, maybe alittle faster, but unless you are doing high speed photography like sports action, I don't see too much advantage. In 35-80mm range you prolly won't be doing much sports photography so i am not sure i would bother with it. If your serious about wanting USM though you might consider a wide range zoom, like a 28-200, or 75-300mm, that way you get the normal 35-80 range, but you got telephoto capabilities as well.
