advice on price for photos to be used in a book

On a recent trip to Asia I snapped normal tourist-type pics and posted them to my blog. Before long I received an email notifying me that someone writing a horoscope book would like to use them. The author asked what I would charge for use of several pictures. I have no experience in something like this and wondered what advice I could get. I would honestly be fine just letting them use the pics for free, but as a starving student I feel that any extra income on the side would go a long way.

unless if the book is very famous and is ancipated for its launch then charge very high price for the usage of it in many copies of the book
u can like charge more for every fixed number of copies intended to be sold?
