I have the first good camera I ever had, a Pentax K1000 that is 40 or so years old.

It still works but the controls are not as free as they are supposed to be.

I was thinking about sending it to someone for a good cleaning and lube, or whatever they do to free up the workings of these older cameras. I figure some parts may need replacing too.

Do any of you have any suggestions about where a good place to send such a camera would be?

Also, if you've had a camera of yours that needed a little work, how much may I expect it to cost?

Had my Pentax MX done by Garry. He did a fantastic job, highly recommended.

Never heard complaints about Garry's. He sensibly limits his patients to cameras he can save. Old low-end lenses? Nope. The OP should start Google searches for DIY advice. That's not being harsh, either.
