Hi guys,

I'm going to pick up a refurb D5100, probably with the 18-55mm kit. I'm really interested in taking landscapes, though, and I was wondering if you could recommend some lenses under $200 that would work really well for landscapes on particular. I'm not really keen on the fisheye thing, though. Something that can really capture the breadth of the terrain where I live :)

Alternately, how does the stock 18-55 lens work as a wide angle lens?

Thanks a on guys!!! I'd appreciate your advice :)

Get the kit lens for sure, It's only like $90 with a refurb kit. Shoot with it and see if it is wide enough "for you" Only you can make that decision. You can always download Microsoft ICE for free and let it stitch together panoramas for you. I would recommend Cameta.com because they include a 1 year warranty on their refurbs... just my humble opinion...

Hey Coastal, thanks a ton!!! I hadn't heard of that program, but if its free, it's within my budget.
I'll have a go with the kit lens and see how it works. I'm completely new to photography, so it's been rather wonderful learning a new hobby.

Thanks again!!!
