That's awesome that you got to go on a Safari!

Your bird image looks like you might have cropped way in (did you?) and your Zebra image is a little underexposed, but I'm jealous you got to go on a Safari

Thanks, yes the Zebra I was shooting into the sun iirc. Think I might have darkened it too much in LR as well. Yes the bird was cropped quite a bit. I'm a South-african living in Germany, so took the GF to go and see some wild animals back home :allteeth:

Nice work! I REALLY like the second elephant image--looks like the sun came out of the clouds on that one bringing out lots of detail in him. And the broken trees around him add great context.

Number 5 can be made much better by cropping-in MORE--you don't need all the feet, hands or tail.
The center of interest in this image is the baby baboon's EYES!

Again, some really good work---got more?

Seriously jealous you were in Africa and got to see elephants. I love those two elephant shots, and yes, probably a good idea you moved away.

The only nation I wish I was born in just so I'd have the opportunity to be closer to wildlife!!
These are great pictures, specially love the warthog.. I'm curious, do they let you out of your vehicle to take the shots? How did you manage the low angle? Also what gears did you use? Just curious!

That zebra foal is super cute, although the subject is a little underexposed (as rose pointed out), not much you could have done without using flash as the light is falling from behind the subject. Oh, and the #4 is a female Steenbok.. real cute creatures! I'm so jealous of you right now, I swear someday I'll just pick up my stuff and go live in Kenya/Tanzaniya or something

Thank you, I will give that crop a go and upload it. I do have more but I still need to process them. Will start a new thread for them.

You're right that is a Steenbokkie female. You are absolutely not allowed to leave your vehicle in any of our game parks, unless you are on horseback or on foot with an armed ranger. I was in a low vehicle, I struggled with the focus on the Warthog, still think the grass in front of his face is sharper than his face...

I'm on the 'low' end gear wise. Will put it in my sig soon. Thank you for the nice comments.

^ "Low end" gear produced high end results (operator can trump equipment), especially those elephant shots. Nicely done.

I would love to do that trip. I want to see the big cats in realsies.

Great shots of the elephant, I fell in love with them while living in Thailand! He was just coming up to say "Hi!" and see what you were doing. I would love to go to Africa one day to get some pics. My Grandmother's employers son worked at his Uncles preserve there for a year after he finished school and really enjoyed it. He goes there all the time to visit family and hunt but that was the first time he had been working to help the animals.
