ahhh! Help!

I discovered something horrible today, the AF on my canon 55-200mm USM II, isn't working properly at all. Instead of the usual smooth movment the lens just jerks a couple of times and stops. If I want to get something in focus I would have to activate the AF three or four times. The worst part is I can't seem to find any warranty info for the lens. Anyone ever have a similar experience or know if there is usually a warranty on Canon lenses?
