Now that winter has come around in my area, this seems like a great time to try and learn some B/W techniques. Here is my attempt at trying to show the contrast in the sky, as well as with the monument. I thought about lightening up the monument so that it stands out a bit more, but that made it blend into the background. What could be done to provide more "pop"?

This is one of my first pictures taken with my D7100

Interesting picture of an interesting subject, but I would never guess, what is it without your title.

I know Timor.. when you think of monuments in the DC area, you think of Lincoln, and Jefferson, Washington, the Pentagon etc. This is literally a 10 min walk from the Pentagon and is easily seen from all of the interstates. It stands out very well among the rest of the monuments in the area.

Well, what I meant was that for me there is no connection between Air Force and shape of this monument.

OOhh... Well the design of the monument was supposed to be based off of the World Famous Thunderbird and their "bomb burst" maneuver

Very strange choice of symbol for such a memorial. I would mount on one of this poles B17 and a Red Tail mustangs on the other two and that would be memorial. There is nothing remarkable about Thunderbirds from the national and history point of view.
