Did you intend those houses for bluebirds? If so, I think the hole is too big.
(edit) I once found a dead bluebird in my wood stove that I used a s a "try-bird". I bored a 1" hole, and if the dead bird fit, then it was good to go.

What did you intend the bird house for? Tree swallows are good birds to have around. They eat tons of insects and are actually quite pretty. AS a bonus, you now have birds in five "houses" that you can photograph to your hearts content.
Yes they are cool birds, and the hole for this type of box does measure out correctly, I was just hoping to get one pair of Bluebirds to nest in one. Actually had one fly out of another box because the swallows chased them out. I'll have to make another a couple houses and put them a bit farther away from the others.
Love these guys!! Last year it was super dry and we had a few around but this year it is very wet and lots of standing water etc.. and there are wayyyy more, I suspect we will be in for a buggy kinda summer!
