Hey guys,

I know the title seems pretty drastic but I like to think of cool thread titles to bring people in hah.

Alright so yesterday i was on Adobe.com and was pondering. CS5.....
Hmmmmmmm my new exchange student from Denmark asked me why I was pondering, I simply replied, well, the money is alot and i'm not sure if my computer will be able to run it without a glitch or something.

I kid you not, this kid grabbed his thumb drive, an 8gb jump drive, popped it into my computer ran a bunch of black windows with white letters all over the screen like you see in the movies, unplugged it, opened up a web browser, and before I know what happened he already had CS5 running on my screen.

I asked how he got it he said he took it from his computer back in Denmark and transferred it to mine. This sh!t blew my mind! He seemed like one of those shy kids akward around others, mention a computer and he won't shut up!

Anywhoooooo point of this being, I was never a fan of PhotoShop simply because I thought people made things look too fake, yet I could never afford it or run it on my sh!tty computer. :blushing:

Yay CS5!, now it's it's time to read tutorials!!!

It's like you said, people make things look too fake.
Photoshop just does whatever you tell it to do, you don't have to exaggerate every effect. ^^
Good luck with learning Photoshop. ;)

Sweet! More threads about pirating software!

That's the thing, it's not pirated, technically. He swapped it from his computer at home to mine. It's his key, he bought it. He just technically uninstalled it and put it on mine. That's technically not pirating software.

It's not pirated if the exchange student had a legal copy on his computer back in Denmark. If he just copied his CS5 from Denmark to Bram's computer..............

Whether or not its technically pirating, I'm doubtful his license was for multiple installs.

I've pirated software in my day, but as I'm working towards my own web studio, I've left those days in the past. Let me make a recommendation for everyone.

First, if you are not well versed in the ways of photoshop, there are other free tools which you can use to learn how to work with a graphics and image editing tool. There are two good free alternatives which have been mentioned here, but for the sake of mentioning again you can use:

www.paint.net <- paint.net
GIMP - The GNU Image Manipulation Program <- the gimp

Now, neither of these tools can fully match photoshop, for advanced uses they fall flat. BUT, they are good tools to learn the basics from. If you are just learning you can always use Adobe's free trials as well.

His license allows him just like you, to uninstall your version with the key, and instill it on persay a new ocmputer you just bought?

That's all he did. It's not pirated so everybody chill and don't get your panties in a wad guys.

That sounds highly unlikely but just popping in a thumb drive and running "a bunch of black windows with white letters."

If you seriously want to do something with your photography, just man up and buy a copy of PS. You're not going to get any respect by pirating your software.

VI, I get your POV from this but I mean who are we both to judge what this kid did. For all we know he used those windows to connect to his net work uninstall it and install it on my computer at home?
