My camera is putting AM on my RAW files as the capture time when it should be putting PM on there. Don't know why. I don't see a setting in there that says AM or PM and I selected UTC 6 which I think is correct for me as I live in Minnesota.

I got a Nikon D3100.

Plus or minus? UTC -6 would be correct for US Central time. (Though, right now it's UTC -5. We are on Daylight Saving Time and they are on Standard Time.)

Is the time in a 24 hour format and maybe you are setting it to 5:00 instead of 1700 (for example)? See if the 'hour' setting will go past 12. If it does, that's your problem.

Nikon uses a 24 hour clock...or at least my D90 does. I made the same mistake when I first got it, took me a while to notice since I don't really look at the time on my photos

Dunno about Nikon but I assume that, like Canon, they have a feature where you sync with your computer's clock when it is plugged in. Particularly useful if you have 2 bodies.

You need to read the camera's user's manual, several times. The complete user's manual is on one of the discs that came with your D3100, and is not the little hard copy Quick Guide.

That does not appear to be in the reference guide either. But I found the answer on Nikon's web site. Military time format.
