Yeah, they all go to the armys photo program. None of it goes to the misuse of medicaid, food stamps, wic, or other goverment assistance programs.

Really! Y'all take a conversation about a stunning photo and turn it into an argument over government spending. Classic!

I would actually like the thread to get back on topic. Thanks.

Sorry, its cool, but I don't love it. To me it looks too overly edited, actually it looks like a preview of a video game. Which brings up the question, if a photo is polished to the point of looking fake, does it lose some of its impact? I don't know.

Overly edited? How so?

I mean overly produced...whether it is or not, it looks setup, with artificial lighting from the right. I've never been in the military but don't soldiers protect themselves behind some sort of barrier? To me it just has a look similar to computer generated, like a video game.

It's not bad, but photo of the year? I think they have better stuff than that from 2010...

And it's doesn't look like there was a ton of editing going on... Mostly just effective use of light, I'd say.

You mean overly staged and posed. It doesn't look processed at all to me. I think they did a bang up job with the lighting though!

Read the photo's description. It was taken at a competition...

The caption under the photo on the flickr site says it was shot during a competition.
