I am surprised you are getting such raving reviews and so little critique on these shots.
At any rate. It seemed there were some pretty severe focal, tilting and composition issues.
Great ideas for shots but not executed in the best possible way.
#1 - Your horizon line has a pretty bad tilt.
This is how it would look straightened. However in doing this edit you loose some of the finer detail. At least I do with the software program I use.
Also your focus seems to be mostly on the rocks in the bottom right hand side.
These ones.
And being that you don't have enough sky in the shot to crop this image utilizing the rule of thirds without loosing the area with the sharpest focus this is my final recommendation for editing this shot.
The colors are fantastic though.
#2 - You did a pretty good job leveling this horizon line. There was a slight tilt which I did correct when I played with the shot.
The first issue here is the focus. If you are going to keep the boat it ought to be in focus. Other wise just keep the sunset. It was strong enough to be the shot.
Utilizing the rule of 3rds. Had the boat been in focus you should have it at a point where it is aligned on the 2/3rd point. and the horizon should have been moved up or down to a 3rds line to draw the interest to either the boat and the sky or the boat and the water.
Emphasis on the boat and the sky
Emphasis on the boat and the water
Ultimately being that the sunset itself was the beauty of the shot. I attempted to edit out the boat to the best of my ability. Moving the horizon line to the lower 2/3rds line.
This is my suggested edit for this shot. Contrast has been enhanced slightly.
#3 - This image had too many cropping and focal issues for me to even go into.
#4 - Your sharpest focus is again in the lower right of this shot. Then you have this leading line you are pulling away from by keeping that big cliff face in the shot.
Here is my final suggestion for editing this shot. Contrast has been enhanced though it is not entirely necessary to do so.
Lovely idea. But you are going to need to work on your leveling, editing and your focus.
Oh and Welcome to the Forum.
