i like the composition... definitely leads you down the path.

the only thing i would say is that because there are so many twigs/branches, with this high-contrast conversion it feels really busy. what if you toned the contrast down?

Hmmm.....

I'll go with the BW. The mess of trees is very busy. In the color version, my eye gets tangled up in there. In the BW, it is just background and does not distract from the opening that is framed by the brighter tree and branch (which "invites you" to go down the path).

One of the major problems associated withshooting forests where I live..lots of vines, many too many varieties of trees growing in close proximity, dark, gloomy and very twiggy.

I didn't actually use a contrast control as much as I layered several editions of SEP2, slowly building up definition between the darker and lighter trees...i thouht it worked but gettin gfeedback that it didn't do so well...back to the tablet.

Oh, OK. I've never done that type of work so I don't know what's involved but it does look hyper-real and over contrasty to me... I'd be interested in seeing what happens when you tone it down.

I'd really like the shot, but it's the same PP issues your other tree had, but you already know that. I'd process this again. I think it has promise.
