I do, but it looks like the point of focus was actually her hair, and not her eyes; the face overall seems just a little soft.

I agree with Tirediron. But the soft focus by no means kills the photo, slightly soft in a portrait is okay. I do prefer a good focus on the eyes, but that is me.
