Work has been pretty stressful the past couple of days, so I decided to spend this mornings conference call outside photographing hummingbirds. :mrgreen: Don't you love bluetooth headsets?

Edit: I forgot to mention that I shot these with my nifty fifty.

 

Humming birds are almost in focus, they seem a little soft to me. another thing to keep in mind is the background behind the bird, the foliage is the same colours as the bird so it doesn't isolate as much. Beautiful bokeh though. Were you using a F1.2 of some sort?

 

Thanks for the feedback. I used my 50mm 1.8 on a tripod. I prefocused and used a remote to take the photos.

2nd attempt is excellent. I suspect it's pretty tough to freeze a hummingbird...

I love these. We have some regular visitors at our house and I've been thinking about setting something up.

 

The background in the 2nd attempt is much better. Good work on it.
