Cute kid. Sky behind him is blown out. Composition-wise he should have been in the other side of the frame IMO. As it is hes looking out of the frame.

I don't find the sky offensive in this image as there is very little of it peeking through the trees... the trees make up most of the setting. The white break in the trees actually makes a nice area for separation on the child's head. The white is also the brightest spot on the image, drawing the viewer quickly to the figures gaze. Nice bit of pentagon bokeh going on in the background. The lighting is a little flat on the face, but there is a nice highlight in the hair to produce some volume. A nice sharp image well separated from the background with control over the OOF area. He's also looking left (angled left) in the direction of the unused space. IMO, with a horizontal composition, I like the placement of the figure.

Agree with oldmacman on composition, if he were on the other side of the frame, his head would be facing out of frame. While his eyes may be looking at bit to camera right, his face is directed toward the negative space on the left. The colors work well together too, I'd be tempted to try some lomo post processing on this one.

Thanks everyone for the critique!! The boy in the pic is my son...he is adorable....and i think reason he is looking a little to my right is because that is where his sister was standing
