Another quick question!!

I am using strobes/umbrella for the first time. I have one of those box sync thingys (i know...sorry) to trigger my on camera flash. Question is, do I leave the strobes on when shooting or do I slide the controls so the strobes are off and just come on when flashing??? This is for night outdoor shots.

I'm sorry, I would answer your question if I had experience with studio lighting, but I don't have any experience.

if the lights you are talking about are on steadily before you fire the strobes they are modeling lights and are meant to give you an idea of your lighting they should turn off prior to firing you strobes.
