Any equine/pet/livestock photographers out there?

I am really interested in equine photography. I haven't met very many people that do this and would like to get some tips. I have a horse to practice on and have several friends with horses, cows, goats etc.. Actually I have a friend who runs an animal rescue and would love to go out there and do some documentary style photos. Before and after, that type of thing. Maybe take some photos for her flyers and advertisement. I have seen a few photos that really hit me emotionally and that is what I'm striving for. I will try to find them again so yall can see what I'm talking about. In the meantime, just any good tips would be great!

You might want to give Gary View Profile: gsgary - Photography Forum & Digital Photography Forum a private message asking for sime advice. I know he does some equine photography as well as general pet and animal work as well as with studio/lighting setups.

Yes he does! I love equine photography! Gotta say it's my fav area also! Whenever I post threads with horse photos Gary is always cc'ing me

and helpin me better myself.

I know she has a speck of dirt on her head that needs to be removed, but other than that what do you think? I couldn't find the original, so I had to copy it from another site I had it posted on. I will keep looking, because I want you to see it in color, so you can critique that too. Also I'm going to assume it's cropped in too tight for printing? (Not that I'm going to print this one, but if I was..)
Also I have a couple of horse photos, but I need to find them. My computer crashed and I lost all of my organized files. The photos are luckily backed up, but my back up system is about as organized as my 5yr olds bedroom. Lesson learned there..

Oh and I need to add, I don't have any studio equipment yet. I have my camera, the kit lens (18-55), a 50mm 1.8, ttl flash, tripod and a wireless remote. I have been known to use my (silver) car windshield reflector as a reflector to help with outdoor lighting. Again, don't judge! lol.
