Any Idea How This is so Precise?

Hi all. I wanted to post this to see if you all knew how he would have gotten such a precise half sphere drawing? I know how to do the whole sphere, and that isn't too hard to get perfect, or close to it..but as far as I can tell, this looks extremely hard to get precise the way he did around the sides and top. Any idea how he did it?

Isn't it a light swung around at arm's length? It looks like he might be crouched down and allowing the light to hit to floor, creating the "edge" of the half-sphere.

Put a stake in the ground. Tie a string to it. Tie the light to the end of the string. Use the light to make patterns while keeping the string taught between the stake and the light.

Genius. I was thinking that's how he made the edges that touched the ground so sharp, but it never occurred to me that that's how he did the outside of the sphere as well. Dummy me.
