Thinking about picking one up. Going to Mexico for a couple of weeks... don't want to haul my d800 and such, but want something with decent quality!

Comments please! :)

Um....yeah....I guess...

No offense but I'm not sure why you'd want a glorified point and shoot...but it is Leica so...

It is hopefully a little bit more than a point and shoot! Primarily just want something small.. that will still give decent images. I'm not taking $15,000.00 worth of gear to Mexico.. when I plan on shooting very little, and hope to spend most of my time in / under the water! lol! Girlfriend wants to hit the mainland at least one day...for photos of some of the stuff there.

I used to shoot a Canon S5 when I wanted something small.. don't have it anymore. I will put the images I got with that up against 95% of the images I see posted here.... ;)

for $700...At least get the Panasonic version dude..

Better yet, save $100 and get THIS. Or even BETTER

I did order the Panny version to test... should be here this week. I had just heard so much hype about the Leica's I was curious! Money isn't an issue as much as IQ is... which is why I was asking.....

With Olympus's current legal / financial issues.... not sure about buying Olympus (I used to love them.. especially the OM4's I had)... and your other suggestion precludes the light and convenient requirement. If I was going down there just to shoot.. that would be a possibility, with a lot of Tri-X and Velvia. But that isn't the case.

From a photographic standpoint, there is really no concern and shouldn't be a deciding factor in your purchase. Remember that the micro 4 3 mount is a consortium not isolated to just the Olympus branding. Also remember that Olympus larger business isn't photographic but medical imaging... photographic side has shown to be profitable.

I myself, have a micro 4 3 system consisting of mix of Panasonic and Olympus bodies and lenses. Voigtlander and Shneider have also joined recently.

Im saving money to get Fuji X1-PRO

Damn Charlie didn't know you rolled like a rockstar lol. I was thinking about putting those funds on a 300mm-400mm lens? Oo. As far as traveling why not a 28-300mm travel lens?

Charlie.. I remember you told me you dont have any kids. Do you want to adopt me?

Hardly like a Rockstar! lol! I just prefer to buy quality.. I don't regret it later that way! I have the 28-300 .. I just don't really want to take my D800 to Mexico. More worried about theft than anything else... and want a worry free vacation! Make sense?

But your investing in a Lecia which more than your d800 with your lens. Plus you can extend it you 28-300 and beat them away lol...just saying pepper spray works wonders.

Schwetty:"Do you like my picture?"

Charlie:"What! You call that composition? SMACK! "Do it again before I compose your a$$ with my belt!". Lol

It is a CHEAP leica... lol! Yea.. there is that, although the 28-300 is a little to light to do much damage! Now my 70-200 on the other hand... ;)
