Anyone interested in a DIY section

i was searching today for a DIY speed snoot that didnt involve a Pringles can!

Kitchen roll or several toilet rolls - or black card and some sticky tape :)

I used black coroplast, cardboard from a cereal box, and gaffer's tape.

How about a roll of Cinefoil by Rosco? About $30 USD.
I keep a roll of it around and use it for various things, including quick, temp snoots. Didn't think it was the right choice for making a grid though. Would love to see how you used it though. What would you say the advantage is?

I may have been too quick on the draw by not reading much before Overread and your replies. I thought you were talking about DIY snoots, not grids. Cinefoil would not be much help for a grid, but you could make some really cool background shapes by poking holes in it.

I am also very interested in this. I just got done with a DIY beauty dish yesterday.

Not totally happy with it yet. Still have to figure out how to mount to the bracket so it will tilt. I think I need a different style bracket.

It is still a work in progress.

Does the dish not mount up to the light, and the light tilts on its mount?

Currently with the cheap umbrella bracket I have there is no way to mount the dish onto the bracket. So I have to mount the dish onto the stand and put the bracket over it. Therefore the bracket tilts but the dish does not.

I think the easiest solution is to buy a bracket I can mount the dish onto. The manfrotto one I think will work best.

I could have sworn somebody mentioned a DIY grid/snoot made with black cocktail straws... But now I don't see that post anywhere.

This senility stuff is for the birds!!!:lol:
