Anyone using a Hyperdrive or similar product?

Looking to buy a Hyperdrive or similar product to backup pics in the field. Currently using a netbook but it's not very practical. I have found the Hyperdrive but are there any similar products out there?

I haven't seen too much discussion about portable storage devices lately, but if I recall....the main thing to decide first, is whether you want to be able to view the images on the device...and how nice of a display do you want on it.

The cheapest options will either not display the images or will maybe have a tiny screen...their primary purpose being backup. But the 'viewers' backup and give you a great display (I think the hyperdrive is like this). So it really depends on what your budget and priorities are.

A few years ago, Epson had some really great viewers...although I think there are a lot more of similar quality now.
A co-worker of mine travels a lot and is an avid photographer. He loves his Epson (I think it's a P 7000). What he does, is walk around shooting all sorts of stuff, then goes back to the hotel and reviews the photos on the P7000. I'm not sure if he deletes some and sorts the keepers...but I'm sure that's an option. One example he gave me was that when he was admiring the ceiling in the Sistine Chapel, it was awkward to be looking up constantly, so he could take lots of photos and really look at the detail later. Of course, you don't want to go too far and not enjoy viewing these things in person.

From the plaque mounted in the visitor's lunch room, which you might have passed by as you were coming aboard: "The hyperdrive we have on board the ship here uses a fusion generator. Our hyperdrive uses modified gamma radiation to create electromagnetic energy that, when ejected from the hyperdrive, causes the realspace time-space matrix to ripple. The hyperdrive continues to eject electromagnetic energy to push against these ripples, propelling the ship into hyperspace." Yeah...so far, so good....we're happy with the new unit!

Ahhhhh yes. Completely different type of Hyperdrive I believe. The one I'm interested in isn't as sophisticated as yours, or as expensive I suspect. Lol

I don't even know what models are available these days. But I can say that I am still using an old Hyperdrive that uses double A batteries. I have been thru about 4 other similar devices (different brands) over the last 5 years and all have failed. Only the hyperdrive keeps working. Wish I could find another one to buy, but I don't think they make these any more.

Just remember, traveling through hyperspace ain't like dusting crops, boy! Without precise calculations we could fly right through a star or bounce too close to a supernova, and that'd end your trip real quick, wouldn't it?
