I've used it and it works well but the UI is weird. I recall issues with highlights but started using the bilateral filter in the module to remove halo. It's powerful but awkward, takes getting used to. Plenty of you tube videos on it. If you can work through the UI or get used to it, it rocks. I hate Windows so much, I'll end up going back to it soon. Only download the latest stable version. Manages photos fine.

I use it lightly when I want access to it's X-Trans demosaicing. As JC notes the UI isn't very polished but there's a lot under the hood and it can do an excellent X-trans conversion -- in that regard I'd rank it one of the best.
