Aurora at Wesach Creek

Aurora in the early morning hours of May 28th. One of the most incredible shows I've witnessed.

Very nice. May 28th was an incredible night for Aurora if it wasn't cloudy, like it was around my place. This was the result of a major solar storm. I have heard that the Aurora was seen as far south as parts of New England and northern California. Some places in the North didn't see much because the days are longer now.

Our days are pretty short where we live in Northern British Columbia, Canada. We are getting 17 hours of daylight right now, so it was really late before it was dark enough, around midnight probably. We got home at 3am and the sky was just starting to lighten up some. I love long days, but am sad about the short nights.

I didn't get as many great shots as I had hoped for. I had trouble with my tripod holding position, and it kept slipping. Also the beach I went to was pretty flooded out.

We, in Calgary, are right up there with you. We are getting about 16.5 hours of daylight these days. That isn't the real problem though, we have such a long twilight, as you do, that seeing the Aurora is starting to get a bit iffy. Let's hope for another display with a Kp index of 7 or better next October or November. We would get a very good show then.
