autocross photos for C&C

I wanted some opinions on these photos please. I rented a new lens to play with for 2 weeks, and am taking it to a national even next weekend. So any tips would be nice. Unfortunately a few of the photos had cones in them because it was pouring and I was hiding under the tent and couldnt really position myself around the cones.
Canon Rebel XT
Canon EF 100-400mm

This one I am not sure about because of the cone in the corner, and cropping the photo down that far made it look odd. Am I better off leaving it or photoshopping it out?

(this one is more for the blue checkered flag on the back of the car, the BF and I are doing custom vinyl work and this is our first big project.)
