I tried changing my Avatar but all i get is "Unable to save file".

The avater was 100x100 pixels and 8k, i even tried taking it down to 95x95 pixles. I've tried uploading from photobucket and from my own machine, same error. I also deleted my old avatar from the site just in case but still not getting any further.

Any ideas?

:scratch: I really don't have any idea. You're trying both methods and getting the same error. Have you changed it before with no difficulty? Any other changes in your browser since then? Have you cleared your cache and tried again?

hmm I tried changing recently (last hour or so) and got the same message. At first I thought it was because I was uploading a GIF instead of a JPEG 0 but just tried to change it to a previous ava and got the same message.

Could it be that update the other day has caused a problem?

Yeah changed it before with no problems. I tried clearing my cache etc in Firefox and it still has the same error. I tried Internet Explorer, too, still the same error. Both methods have the same error yup.

may be some sort of directory permission settings?

I'm using the "upload directly from computer option" with a version that is 100X100 pixels EXACTLY and 29.30 KB. It's a JPG.

But it's not working. I've also tried uploading it from flickr at the thumbnail size. And it's not working.

Does TPF have a glitch, or am I just completely techonologically challenged?

Try converting it to a .GIF - I've found that works.

Note: The maximum size of your custom image is 100 by 100 pixels or 24.4 KB (whichever is smaller).

I found I have to save avatar photos at "9" out of Photoshop. "10" no longer works, too many KB!

It is possible that TPF is experiencing a few technical problems at the moment, this may or may not be one of them... just let one of us know if you can't find any way of fixing the issue yourself (or start a thread in the feedback section) and we will look into it. Thanks.

I tried to change mine twice...once at home and once at work, and got the same error.

Saving it as GIF doesn't work, and uploading at 50x50 and 10 KB doesn't work either. I'll post in the feedback forum.

Me too. Tried it at 50x50 pixels, and also down to 10 KB... no luck.
