Hello all. Just curious about your preference between the two photos. Thanks.

I tend to lean b/w typically, but I prefer the color on this.

As taken colour
For B&W I would use just one seed head or stem and go for an almost soot &whitewash look

Color. Too me it has more depth to it.

color, the B&W "loses" the depth of the color image.

Close maybe on the B&W but I think the blurring and blending of the colors adds more interest. With b&w you simply see those same colors as un interesting grey tones that don't catch the eye.

No kiddin' Derrel! lol would've never guessed!

I think the B&W makes the texture more noticeable, but could maybe use a tweak on the contrast.

Both are good, but I personally like the color one a bit more.

color only because it is solid color.. for B & W i want contrast

I look at it as two monochrome shots. One is black and white the other is black and green.

I believe the strength of b&w (or monochrome) photography is its ability to draw the viewers attention to the subject, by eliminating our natural instinct to look at the color first. This print is all subject, so I am rather neutral as which is better.

However, it also believe that our instinct is to favor the natural looking color mode, so most folks would choose the color. Those of a more artistic mind, might enjoy the nuances of texture and shading associated with b&w.
