I've been working on taking pictures of babies. It's so hard! Hopefully I will get better with practice

Now I'm looking at the first one... It looks too grainy and the second one looks too smooth. I'm going to go back to photoshop and fix this. C&C still welcome! Any ideas I how to fix this?!?

#1: I would have stepped back - cropped less closely to avoid cutting baby's head and make the face appear less overwhelming.

#2: I like this image because of the unorthodox angle of view. It accentuates the character in baby's face, creates mood, and makes me feel connected to baby. The crop is a little too tight at the top of the head and sides - cut elbows bother me. Maybe step back a bit. I'd also go up a stop to increase the DOF and decrease the exposure.

#3: Very nice! Sweet baby. Toys distract a bit - you could crop them out, but it might screw up your nice portrait orientation.

Overall, I think this is very good set. Nice work!

there is something going on with #1...did you sharpen it? It looks like the baby has scales. #2 has flat lighting (did you use your flash?) so maybe that is what you are seeing. There are no shadows and no depth to it. #3 your wb is off, he is way too yellow and way too red. Also your composition needs a bit of work. Lucky for you you have an adorable model to practice on!

Thank you for the help! I think people and babies are my weak spot, I'm better at close up and nature pictures. These are also old pictures, so I feel like I have definitely improved!
