nothing?

I like the composition of the picture and the bokeh in the background is really nice however it needs more focus on the subject I think. The birds head and beak are in focus but the nest and bodies seem blurry to me. I'm just newbie though and that's just my personal 2 cents.

If you wouldn't have said they were hummers I may not have figured it out...

It may not have been possible but the image would be more successful if you could move to the left (sun behind you) and get a higher angle. The top of the head doesn't quite cut it.

Key is eye detail/highlight which you have captured but look for an angle between head on and sideways, ie., bird looking towards you and not away.

It also helps to post your exif data.

Cheers, Don

I can honestly say I had no idea what I was looking at til I read the other comments. Amazing find though.....I don't know that I've ever seen someone post a shot on baby Hummers........=)

I should also mention there are mixed camps about shooting birds in the nest.

"Bird Forum" in particular does not allow posting of nest images.

I would hope that anyone shooting these kinds of images would be aware of potential damage to the family and/or the immediate environment.

Personally I have mixed feelings and the search through mosquito filled bush has kept me from it....

Just saying :)

Cheers, Don

the nest was facing the road, in plain sight, at eye level...

never going to get a chance like that again

I think you may have misunderstood me, I was not criticizing you for taking the shot.

In fact if I had the opportunity I would have taken it.

Just wanted to make sure you and anyone else reading this thread considers the impact of their presence.

I'll get off my soap box now and get back to C&C.

With all due respect you had an incredible opportunity and chose a less than ideal composition.

You also received three comments and one "like" and instead of thanking those kind folks and responding to the C&C you chose to get defensive.

Cheers, Don

I'm sorry if i offended you, I wasn't trying to get defensive, I was just trying to clear things up
