they are a bit underexposed but they are cute.. need to add more natural light or use artificial..

the first shot there is not catch light in the eye which is a must.

use some type of lighting if possible for the backgrounds or composite the image so that you expose the background and then shoot the subject and composite them together.

the white balance is a bit off too.. they shots seem a little too warm .. add some blue tones to it to counter balance that .. see how it looks

This is something I'm really trying to work on too, which is why it stuck out at me, but try not to let your composition cut body parts off of your subject. The first three shots all lost the top of his poor little head, and the second shot cut off his hand.

It's really easy, for me at least, to look through the viewfinder instead of in to the viewfinder, so you end up paying a lot of attention to the subject's face while you wait for the expression you want, or checking to make sure your focus is just right, or whatever, and you completely miss the larger picture. Sometimes that means you don't realize how busy and distracting the background is, and sometimes that means you don't realize you've got all but two fingers in frame when you could pull back just a touch and get the whole hand. Like I said, it's something I'm really trying to work on too.

They're good shots though, and I love the shot of the feet - I have a similar shot of my girl when she was a baby. :)

Thanks for the comments. It's actually my little girl, not boy, haha. But that's ok... I didn't have her dress like a girly girl like I usually do, lol. When I too look through and not in the viewfinder. I didn't feel like the background was really necessary. I wanted to focus more on her then my messy kitchen, lol. =P This was not a shot that I had time to set up, it was more of a spur of the moment kinda of thing. She had a rough day, and this was actually the first smile of the day, which was at about 6pm, so no daylight left. I choose to only use one light. I was just practicing in these shots, and playing around with the settings.

I am disappointed that I missed the light in the eyes of the first picture... is there an easy was to fix that? Every time I try it looks fake.

As for the chopping of the head... it's something I did intentionally. I wanted to focus more on the face. The hand was a complete miss though.

I would love to hear ideas of how to better my work, so I can keep practicing. Thanks again for the comments. Just wanted to give you some background of the shot. =)
