Baby Portrait for C&C

Thanks Big Mike, now I have things to look for/work on the next time I am shooting.

Anyone else?

I got the typical TPF responses but would like some suggestion to fix the photo rather than someone just putting it down because it's a photo of my child.

This is one of the biggest problems with this entire forum, right here.

Which part? People getting butthurt because there isn't anything particularly great about their photo so it doesn't receive praise? The "typical TPF responses" - lack of depth/insight (in general, not this situation)? Or the fact that people don't accept the advice and objective opinions of others (in many times, others that know a great deal more than they do)? All of the above?

I would say the first and third observations; a person posts a bad snapshot of their child, and gets upset with the C&C, and then immediately attacks the MESSENGER. Often vociferously, and even repeatedly, post after post, defending poor work, and attacking the typically much more-experienced C&C giver.

For examply, here is a post that JUST went up, and has not yet rec'd any C&C...I wanted to link to this post done by "mommyphotog" (that is her user name) as being an example of THREE snapshots of her kids; each of which actually has something "going on" in it.http://www.thephotoforum.com/forum/...-forum-photo-gallery/251172-two-boys-c-c.html

The first shot has the boy's head being framed by bright, red playground equipment, and unlike this post;'s picture, the child is not gazing down and out of the frame; his eyes MEET those of the viewer. The other two shots are simply much, much better snaps of children than what the OP presented here...it might be interesting to see what mommyphotog gets in terms of reaction to her shots. One of the critical distinctions beginning photographers need to make is how to separate personal involvement in their own snapshots, and appreciation of photographic skill and ability in photographs.

Thanks for the clarification, Derrel. I was truly just curious! :)

It's true, it's a very ordinary photo. I have no interest in the after-effect.
