What backdrops do you like to use?

I'm thinking about buying diamond cloth, but I'm not sure I'm reading mixed reviews.

I really want a cloth that keeps wrinkles away pretty well.

I have three matte vinyl backdrops that I love.. white, gray and black. (and yes... I realize that just black is all you really need.. you can light it to be gray or white, lol!) I also have several muslin backdrops that I use.. when needed. I hate the wrinkle factor!

Have also looked into getting some of the backdrops that are on printed, wrinkle free mildly stretchable cloth... and use that with black muslin behind it to kill light bleed through.

Freedom cloth/diamond cloth is about the best you are going to find for keeping the wrinkles at bay. Or paper rolls!
I LOVE Silverlake, but I have a rail system so that I can keep my backgrounds hanging. Lines and wrinkles aren't a problem then... I have a few I have made myself-being an artistic type definitely had it's benefits.
If you use a few clamps to pull your backgrounds tight you won't have too much of a wrinkle problem. If your subjects are placed far enough away from the background you won't have a problem.

With proper lighting control, you can use any of those three to look white/grey/black in the photo...and by adding color via a gelled light, you can get just about any color.

So if you could only have one...grey is often a good choice. But that being said, if the backdrop is also your floor, where a subject will be standing on it, then it gets a lot harder to control the lighting, so having a white and and grey and/or black can be beneficial.

What do you suggest for that? Diamond cloth?

You could have saved money by just buying white, because you can make white, grey and black

Yes.. ! There is that.. same could be said of grey! lol!

Colored gels is what I use to make colored backgrounds. I primarily use a white or black background. I have a few mottle-patterned backgrounds as well, two in shades of gray and one slightly blueish (that I've never used - it's the reverse side of one of the grays).

What will you be using as your floor? The backdrop or a floor or...?
The guys also didn't touch on the sheers for changing colors.
Blues and greens are always hand to have for your backdrops. There are no blues and greens in skin tones. It's easy to make a blue backdrop any other color in photoshop without having an effect on your subject.

...as long as the subject's not wearing anything blue or green and is far enough away from the background to avoid any contamination.

I like to use public space. Its free and everywhere. LOL. I dont do studio work so i got nothing for ya.

Steamer, iron, clamps or tape to stretch it.

Yea thats what I was thinking! Kinda stinks b/c everytime you fold it it will re wrinkle lol
