Mucked up the postprocessing a bit, will have to do it over but in general; comments?

too close/cropped tight, light to harsh, poorly positioned . Frame just looks awkward not graceful or soft. Did you take this with on camera flash? it needs to be backlit or side lit or something, diffusers. something...

i dont think it needs better processing i think it needed different lighting, framing, and subject positioning.

Personally I like it ... My nitpick is that the strap is clipped on the right. And maybe try pulling back a tad

I like it for the most part, but I would have liked to see a bit more space on the left at the toe of the shoe and also the strap. I think it would have looked nicer if the strap were pulled around so the end of it was in the photo and down near the toe of the top shoe.

I think there are good possibilities here. I have two criticisms:
1. Every set of pointe shoes I've seen has been worn and show lots of heavy use. But the lighting here has glare and makes them look like they're made of chrome or some kind of shiny stiff metal. I'd suggest a soft box or scrim to produce a softer light. Also, something less direct (I'm guessing you shot these with your popup flash) and get some lighting on the side (so we see the wrinkles and texture in the shoe fabric/leather).
2. Not wild about the fabric that tails off to the right (and is cut off). Either frame it so it isn't cut off or put it behind the shoes shoe it doesn't show so prominently.

I like your subject.. A couple of things I would have done is backed up a bit and left some negative space. I like black and white images, but I'm not sure it works for this particular subject. I think of soft and dainty when I think of ballerinas. Maybe try using some softer light with a modifier or bouncing the light. Your focus looks great!! You're doing the right thing by shooting and asking for critique. This is a great place to learn!!

Nice image. I think it would be better to have the lace in the frame, but otherwise I wouldn't mess with it.
