How often are you using Flash? I'd definitely try and resist in band/live photography if you avoid using the flash you'll achieve a greater ambiance within the imagery.

I try to shy away from it but the lighting in this venue was complete garbage to the point where I wasn't able to get clear images without it. Literally the only lights they had were three colored lights (red green and blue) shining onto the stage. Other than that it was almost pitch black.

When the lighting is that bad you need to use flash its not worth shooting
