i am wishing i had the 70-200 f/2.8 but working with what i have just wanting to get better thanks

1/125 is just to long a shutter speed for action sports. You'll need at least 1/250, and most of the time you'll need 1/500. However, shooting at the peak of the action, when movement has virtually stopped, helps.
Action moving perpendicular to (at or away from) the image sensor is easier to stop than action that is moving parallel to the image sensor.
