What body were you using? These seem kinda noisy, especially number 3. Something to do with the upload? Maybe a link to your site/blog, I'm sure they're better viewed there anyways.

I believe I said that they weren't there. There are a couple of other basketball shots in the featured favourites gallery.

Nice job catching the action and getting intensity on their faces in the shots. And what is it that at every level of basketball someone always has their tongue hanging out. lol

There is some noise in the out of focus areas, but that does not bother me. Did you have to bring the exposures up a bit in post processing, as that can add a bit more noise to those out of focus areas when you do that. I'd love to have light like what you have here for shooting basketball that allowed those exposure settings with available light.

I could have shot at 2.8 and maybe eliminated a bit more of the noise, but took the extra third stop. I did bring the levels up a bit in photoshop, the exposures were pretty close to start with but in a few spots on the floor the light was down a bit.

I really like photos 2 and 4 because you have caught the interaction and some nice expressions of concentration on the players' faces. :thumbup:

too dark and noisy. most gyms need strobing. im looking at galleries from getty and it seems as if these guys are shooting low iso at f11. the images are tac sharp as well. anything indoor is very tough but good action shots, just need more light.

Getty strobes everything. Apples and Oranges. The average freelance photographer isn't doing to start laying out 15-20k to start putiing up stobes at high school or university basketball. The average Getty shooters are making between $100-500 per game, putting up strobes at NHL games still cost $1000-2000 per game or more depending on which arena, I assume the the NBA has a similar policy. These games I shot were in an NHL arena and were strobed by the NHL team photogapher who was using the team lights, that he didn't have to pay for. Unfortunately we don't all have the same privledge, so we do what we can.

The strobist that I have been following are only using 2 speedlights. That should bring your cost down by a lot. I have not tried yet, but I think I will on the next game.
