Can others edit my Photos
Photos OK to edit
Hello,
I have scanned over a 1000 black and white photos and now I would like to batch colorize them.

the following online tool works very well but I would like some software to batch covert them.
Colorize Black and White Photos

I searched high and low but didnt find anything to do batch. does such software exist for windows 10?
thanks
Tom

I would be very dubious of any software that claims to be able to give reasonable colour representations from B&W images. With landscapes it might be possible to do something that looks reasonable but even in the example they use a background who's to say it wasn't an autumn scene??

B&W images have NO colour information so all it can do is guess, and if filters where used in creating the photo (pretty standard practice in B&W) the relative intensity won't reflect the original.

you may want to research how Turner network colorized film.

Though, the process and cost could be prohibitive for an individual. And results may not be to one's liking.

Thanks for the replies. I wasn't looking for an extremely professional finish, just a quick zap over with the algorithmia code or something similar. I will look deeper into this as maybe batch processing may be able to be achieved under linux and its an open source code so can be modified. Ideally I was hoping to find a ready made package which works under windows but there doesn't appear to be any yet.
I have scanned all my granddads old pictures and I was hoping to colorize them all to show him at Christmas. he is 92 on Christmas day. he will be amazed when I show him the photos which I already colored. actually the software does work very well on some images I was very surprised myself, but on some images it can just turn them to a sepia color. its interesting to see how they turn out. its pretty cool how the software automatically knows that grass is green etc. thanks Tom

I have no answer for the batch colouring but I've just tried the website you linked with a few of my own images and the site was way off on all but a portrait and even there the colour wasn't correct.
Neat site but you'll still have to post process every image to get near correct colour.
