Begginer looking to get some information.

Hey,

I am looking to purchase a camera and get into the photography world. I don't know much about cameras but I want to purchase something decent that I will be happy with for the next couples years while i learn more about the camera and what I can do with the settings. I just don't want to be limited by an underclass camera that i will soon out grow. I happen to be a quick learner, and would like something that is simple but also has some more advanced options.

I typically will be shooting scenery or action sports.

Does anyone have a suggestion for a decent camera to pick up that isn't going to run the bank dry?

Look on Craigslist for your area. You can handle it, try it and prove it works. Craigslist > Cities

You can likely get a Nikon D40 DSLR and a couple lenses for $300-500 Nikon or Canon dominate the quality camera market to the tune of 80% plus. This is a big benefit when shopping the used market. I prefer Nikon. Go to stores like Best Buy and compare the 2 brands.
