Beginner Photographer

Hello,

I am a beginner photographer. I've been shooting for a few months now with a Canon Rebel T7i with the stock lens. My father-in-law is a great photographer and he helps me out, but he also recommended joining this forum to me. I've never had the patience to figure out how forums work, so I'm not quite sure what to do or read.

I mostly shoot landscape photos and close-ups, but I'll try my hand at portraits every now and then and really anything else so long as it captures my attention. I have a base knowledge of ISO, Aperture, and shutter speed and I only shoot in manual (it's the best way to learn!). I also am playing around with GIMP right now as I like that it's free and decent for a beginner.

Welcome Kate!

Using the forums is pretty easy, you can browse using the Active Topics button (that will show you threads that have had recent replies) or you can go to the sub forums and browse by topic. So if you wanted to have a look at landscape shots go to the landscape gallery and pick post with a title that catches your interest. If there's a particular topic you want to find out about you can use the search feature to look for keywords. Feel free to create a new thread to show us some of your shots, or if theres a question you can't find an answer to. Just have a wee look at the date of the original post before replying to a thread buiried deep down in the forums, there's a lot of threads that are now old and out of date or where the original poster has long since left since the forum has been about for so long. Just don't be shy, forums thrive on discussion so feel free to throw in your 2c!

Thank you so much! I’m totally clueless when it comes to forums, so it’s nice to have some info to start with.
