The kingfishers are back. Chased them all over last summer. Very skiddish. Believe this is the male.

And just before he hit the water...

Nice job on the diving sequence, Ray. They are hard to get close to!

Thanks, Dean.

This was the closest I had gotten to either one. There was a pair. I was happy with the still shot. Didn't realize he was going to dive. Thought he was going to fly off again. Did my best to stay with him. I did get the splash down, but it's behind a bush on the shore. Lost him on the way back up.

Really nice set. The last one looks like contrails or something behind it like a jet. I've been close to one one time. I was in Edmonds, WA walking along the waterfront and one landed about 8 feet away from and just sat there for a minute. They are usually very skittish but this one was almost tame. I was lucky to have my camera.

Nice flight/dive series, RowdyRay.

Thank you. Nice shot. That's the female. They are one of the few bird species were the female is more colorful.

I did get shots of the female, but she stuck to the shadows. The photos are quite noisy. Shame, really. Didn't get her on the dive. Heard the splash and got her on the way up and on a branch. Clearly had a minnow in her beak. Not that great at editing yet, I'll see what I can do.

That's a nice series of pictures! I just loved the second last shot!
