I think I would have preferred to see it taken with a smaller aperture so the background were not thrown into this mild blurriness. Like this, it makes me squint and grab for my glasses (which are where they are from morning to night, anyway, i.e. in front of my eyes). But the "blue hour" effect is really nice.

Thanks for the comments, Corinna. I have to remember to take more shots with different settings as I would have preferred a sharper pier, too. It sure looked sharper in the preview window. I did want the background hills OOF, though, but still should have tried a version with all of it sharper.

Agree with Corinna, and additionally, don't forget to straighten/level/perspective-correct.
