Bench photos for C+C

I saw this interesting bench in front of a house when I was shooting last weekend

I think the second is more interesting due to the angle but I'm curious what you folks think..

Too much going on in the 2nd one. The 1st is the better of the two IMHO due to its visual simplicity.

Hmm...not really sure how I feel about a photo of a bench. I think you missed focus in both shots. Definitely the bottom one...your focus is on the rhododendron bush instead of the bench itself. I'd going back to the drawing board on these : )

What's the little pile of white on the bench seat (left side in photo), and also little piece of something hanging off the back of the bench on the right side. Whatever they are, I find them distracting.

I like the "idea" behind these, but in the first one, for some reason, that bench almost looks like it's been photoshopped into the picture. I think it's because of the bottom of the bench being just out of sight, over that little hill, and the fact that the edge of the bench on the right is closely lined up to the tree it almost looks like the top (bench back) is in front of the tree, while the legs of the bench are behind the tree. It may really be like that, or it may just be an optical illusion, but it just makes it look a little odd. In my opinion, that is...which ain't really sayin' much.

Thanks for the feedback! Yeah, looking at it again I see what you mean Ryan....I was probably doing manual focus. I also see what you're saying Georgie...there is a lot to be said for simple. I thought the angle and the surrounding shrubs made it more interesting but I could be way off. Thanks Sm4him!..yeah it was at an odd angle...
