Just wondering what is the one book you would highly recommend a new photographer to go out and buy? There are so many out there so what is the one that you kept going back to for tips, tricks or instructions when you guys were just starting out?

Your Camera Manual
Understanding Exposure by Brian Peterson
Digital Photography 1-4 by Scott Kelby

These will give you a great start.

.........
The forum has a search feature at the top of each page. Try it sometime.........

Have you actually tried it?

Maybe you should.

I have cs5 for photographers, adobe Lightroom and Photoshop classroom in a book.

If you get no hits, try using different search terms.

That's my point..... how many tries, and what terms, should be 'enough' before a noob gives up and just posts the question?

At least a couple of trys would work.

The thread I linked to "How did you learnn" was about 6 threads below this one on the Beginner's forum yesterday when this thread was posted.

He's got a FOURTH one?

Yep, just arrived from pre-order at Amazon

Truly amazing book. Lots and lots about lighting, but it also includes lots of great stories about being a photographer, and some incredible composition. I don't think Joe McNally ever once gave up on getting the shot.

I'm gonna have to scour the bookshops while I'm at work tomorrow. Let's hope it is a quiet day!
