best cf card for d2hs

im a new owner of the d2hs and was wondering what are the best cf cards available for this camera and what size thanks in advance

This is probably the best, but I'm going to assume it's is WAYY overkill. What's your budget? How often will you be able to back-up images?

thats actually pretty rad but i was looking at 50 bucks tops haha and i usually transfer images to my computer the same day

youre probably the most helpful member on this site!! thank you. but im not sure if i should buy two 4gb cards or one 8 gb or one 16gb card

The manual for a D2X listed only Lexar and SandDisk cards, and only one 8GB Lexar card was listed. The biggest SanDisk card listed was 2GB. That doesn't mean later cards with larger sizes won't work, but you'll want to be able to test them before buying. That said, I am pretty sure that I was using 8 GB cards, and at least tried a 16 GB card when I still had a D2X, and don't remember any that were tried and didn't work.

I would not be surprised if the 64 GB and larger cards didn't even work...

Note that the camera certainly will not be able to use the speed of a modern CF card, but your computer can use the speed if you have a USB3 port and an appropriate card reader. And it's the download speed that counts.

Whatever, I would think that a couple of 8 GB or a couple of 16 GB cards should be pretty cheap these days. I haven't looked, but a 4 GB must be dirt cheap? Frankly I'd look more towards 16 GB cards because there were just so many faked 4 and 8 GB cards that it was hard to find real ones on places like eBay.

File sizes are pretty small on the D2hs...the D2x will use 8-gig cards. My personal preference is for SanDisk Extreme or Ultra cards. Two, 4-gig cards would be fine I think. Like apaflo mentioned...I do not think the D2hs was able to use really BIG cards...I thought it had some kind of Fat32 limitation of, perhaps 4 gigabytes...it's been a long time, but back in the day,the MAXIMUM size some of the earlier d-slrs could accept was way smaller than the HUGE cards we have available today.

One nice benefit of 4-gig cards is that a single DVD-R can back up each card full of images.
