I've got a little secret, but I haven't actually tried it yet, but my source is damn sound. What's your budget and what's your purpose?

My budget is basically nonexistent. And my purpose? I guess I was thinking on trying to create a mini studio to practice lighting techniques. But at any rate I'll take anything you have and if I can't afford it now, I'll work on saving up for it.

What do they look like in color?

i shot them in black and white, color wasn't really working out for me since my sweater is red. Gave me to much contrast. And as far as a budget setup goes, ive heard of people using flood lamps and buying the white bulb and creating soft boxes but never tried it my self.

This website seems pretty useful for that kind of work, i don't really use it but notice some interesting things.

Nice shots. For a first attempt I think you are on the right track. I cant wait to get started myself with self portraits.

I have been reading the book. Minimalist lighting and have found it to be very helpful with set ups and understanding of different light sources. For those that do not have or do not want to spend lots of money on lighting this book covers a lot of options.
