In the UK we call that a Daddy Long Legs - it's proper name is the Cranefly. They can sit in the same spot for hours on end and they only live for about 3 days. Seems like a waste of life if you ask me!

Thanks, my elcheapo 18-55 f3.5-5.6 does pretty well for me. That was at its' closeup limit and at f/16. ISO 100 with flash.

The sharpness on that lens peaks around f/8, according to dpreview, so you might have pulled a bit more detail out of this image by opening up the lens a bit.

At f/8 the DoF is just too shallow for so close a working distance, I took some shots at f/8 and f/11, f/16 was the best
